GEN2++ Exhaust Gas Thermocouple

GEN2++ Exhaust Gas Thermocouple

AMETEK Power Instruments' GEN2++ Exhaust Gas Thermocouple (EGT) represents the latest advancement in durability and measurement technology for users around the world. The new and improved pencil tip design delivers faster response time and resolves ongoing vibration challenges found in larger gas turbine platforms. These turbines operate at the heart of modern power plants where a mixture of air and fuel is heated to extremely high temperatures, causing turbine blades to spin and generate mechanical energy that drives electrical production for homes and businesses. In many configurations, a gas turbine can also work with a steam turbine in a combined-cycle plant to increase efficiency and support fast, flexible power generation across industries.

Understanding how critical it is to keep your turbine operating at peak performance, AMETEK engineered and tested the GEN2++ to meet stringent OEM specifications that help eliminate equipment failure across any EGT system. Designed in collaboration with the OEM and tested under extreme vibration and thermal conditions, the GEN2++ ensures stable operation even in the harshest environments.

GEN2++ thermocouples feature a solid, continuous single-piece sheath using IN625 and a 2-conductor type K junction. The hermetically sealed connector is rated up to 260°C and connects to a seamless shaft that shields the thermocouple from environmental degradation. Manufactured and tested for both base and peak load operation, these thermocouples meet ASTM E608 and E585 requirements with accuracy of 1.1°C or 0.04%. An integrated radiation shield fitting ensures consistent tip insertion into the exhaust path every time. This design eliminates installation errors and prevents oversheath damage that could lead to premature failure.
