The UPLC3 is AMETEK Power Instruments’ third‑generation Power Line Carrier (PLC) solution purpose‑built for electric power generation and utility applications. Designed to meet the evolving communication requirements of modern utilities, the UPLC3 combines proven PLC technology with a future‑ready architecture that protects long‑term infrastructure investments.

The UPLC3 features a completely redesigned transceiver board and a robust pluggable processor module that dramatically increases processing capacity. Ease of use has been significantly improved through a new intuitive web-based interface, an enhanced front panel display with expanded TX and RX level information and simplified access to diagnostic and operational data. Cybersecurity enhancements have been made to include HTTPS and simplified password reset reflecting the growing importance of secure communications in utility and power generation environments.

Utilizing current infrastructure while adding new capabilities is important to AMETEK Power Instruments. To support this the UPLC3 maintains full end‑to‑end compatibility with all previous AMETEK Power Line Carrier generations including UPLC‑II UPLC and TC/TCF‑10B units.

Utilities can deploy UPLC3 units incrementally without replacing existing equipment even supporting checkback testing with mixed generations on the same line. For simplified upgrades and retrofits the UPLC3 uses the same chassis as the UPLC‑II minimizing mechanical and installation changes.
